Imagine...
...
not being able to reach a light switch, pick up your keys when you drop
them, or open a cabinet door.
Then imagine having a dog that
could do all of that and more for you!
Canine Companions
for Independence (CCI) is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives
of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and
ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.
CCI trains four types of Canine Companion Teams:
Service Teams,
Skilled Companion Teams,
Facility Teams, and
Hearing Teams.
The Heart of Texas
Chapter, composed entirely of volunteers, was created to support local puppy
raisers and graduates educate the public about CCI's mission, and raise
money for the national organization. We hold annual fundraisers such
as the popular Ulti-Mutt Dog Festival and meet regularly for puppy training
outings, "bone voyage" parties for dogs going off to Advanced Training, and
social events for volunteers to meet and get to know each other.
